Saver Award
A saver award is the lowest standard points price a program charges for a flight or stay, drawn from a limited pool of inventory. It is the redemption rate most award charts advertise. Because the seats are capped, saver space sells out faster and disappears first on busy dates.
What it means in practice
Programs typically offer a saver tier and one or more higher tiers. Saver awards deliver the best value per point, but they come with the tightest availability. When saver space is gone, you are left with standard or peak pricing that can cost far more points for the same seat.
Example
A one-way flight might cost 12,500 points at the saver level but 25,000 or more at a higher tier. The saver seats go first, so booking early or staying flexible is often what secures the lower price.
